FAAHPN WELCOME RECEPTION

The Florida African American Heritage Preservation Network ("FAAHPN") in partnership with the Friends of the Broward County African American Research Library & Cultural Center will host a Welcome Reception to bring together representatives from the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History & Culture, state and local elected officials from the Broward & Miami-Dade area, as well as the Florida Network member site delegates from across the State of Florida for a networking mixer in anticipation of the Save Our African American Treasures Programthat will take place January 11-12 at the Broward County African American Research Library & Cultural Center.

PRESIDENT’S LETTER

African Americans have an abbreviated history of participation in mainstream historic and cultural preservation initiatives. In recent years, however, there are signs of progress as we've become more involved in "telling our story and promoting Florida's African American history and culture". Many senior citizens in Florida are contributing significantly to this new spiritual movement. It is critical that we build on this foundation by improving the capacity of our museums, while training a generation to take our places as professional museum Directors.
